Dengue....ugh!!

The dreaded fear for me is trying to keep our missionaries healthy and safe.   I have heard much from my own children and a lot of others about the dreaded Dengue.  In our mission the year before we got here the mission was plagued with Dengue, 40% of the missionaries contracted it.  According to the Area medical personal when we got here, we led the world in cases of Dengue.  Our missionaries have been diligent and obedient about using the things that the church has put into place for their protection, repellent, permetrina, plug ins for the houses and pants for the Hermanas.  We have been incredibly blessed to have been spared the disease they dub "bone break disease", transmitted by mosquitoes.  The one to gain the title of the first to have real Dengue was Elder Murphy who contracted this on a trip with my husband to scout out the "Alto Chaco".  The trip was incredibly successful and very helpful but poor Elder Murphy!  After 4 days in the hospital he was cleared to go.  I think that he will testify forcefully to anyone that you want to do anything to avoid DENGUE!
